In 1997, Hinton and Associates were founded to provide extraordinary service to clients by providing professional IT services.
Like most entrepreneurs servicing clients from a home office, we started small. Still, we quickly grew to service financial institutions, professional services firms, and local government clients by providing mainly "break and fix" services to organizations with small or no in-house IT staff.
We learned quickly that many organizations did not have the needed IT talent on their payroll, which provided us with a tremendous opportunity to service these organizations. These organizations felt relieved by the outcomes we could improve, including the streamlining of processes, cost savings,
data protection, preparation for any disaster, and other technical services that enhance organizations.
We implemented services to implement shared internet connections, email servers, and firewalls as the internet went from a buzz to a mandatory must-do for business. After Y2K (2000), we began concentrating on our fully managed and co-managed IT services. In 2006 we relocated our offices to Camp Hill to accommodate our customer base surrounding this area.
In 2007, we adjusted our business hours to provide round-the-clock support to those that needed IT support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Many organizations now have employees that work evenings, nights, and weekends. In doing so, we significantly increased our footprint in local municipalities and police departments, as they appreciated our unique ability to service them as needed.
In 2011, we moved our offices to New Cumberland to be central to employees and customers in Central PA that may need on-site support at locations that include Carlisle, Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, State College, and Newark, Delaware.
In 2019, we acquired Computer Info Systems and Services in New Cumberland to service their existing clients, including financial organizations and small businesses that needed our unique ability to provide compliance services and co-managed or fully managed IT services.
During the pandemic, we were not shut down due to the need to service law enforcement, legal entities, and critical financial institutions. This meant not only transitioning our team to work from home to keep our employees safe but providing them with direction to support our clients to get their employees set up to work from home. Since the government shutdown happened very quickly, we worked evenings and weekends to ensure our clients had little interruption in their business operations to keep them functional. In addition, our phones rang non-stop during the pandemic as our clients’ employees needed support working from home.
Since we've supported financial institutions since our inception in 1997, cybersecurity has been a part of our expertise very early on. As the threat landscape continues to evolve, so does any organization's need for proper cybersecurity. Our business is currently focused on managed and co-managed IT services to support the ever-growing cybersecurity needs of our clients not only to be compliant with cyber insurance requirements and adhere to compliance regulations but also to lower the risk and exposure of a cybersecurity incident or a data breach that could compromise our client organizations.
Our decades of providing compliance support and security to industries such as financial services have positioned us to be subject matter experts in applying this knowledge and skillset to all our clients concerned about the safety of their networks and organization.
As we are celebrating our 25 years in business, we are looking at the future of our IT firm and our goals for the next few years to include an expansion on co-managed IT services, supporting organizations that have IT staff in-house but still require extra support and expertise, which may consist of operational support, cybersecurity, strategy, and other IT consulting.
We will continue to service the regions and industries where we have developed a presence and expertise.
Our IT firm boasts seven employees living, working, and playing in Central PA.
Our clients will always receive support from a local employee, reducing the frustrations of interacting with tech support that may not be in the United States. It can add more stress to the situation when they are already experiencing high frustration levels.
We enjoy supporting our clients, many of which have been with us for over 20 years. We will continue to be counted on for our quick response time and prompt resolution of our clients' technical concerns, delivered respectfully and professionally.
